I saw this movie on Cinemax last night about a soldier escorting the body of a fallen soldier who died in Afghanistan. He escorted him from the military based in Washington DC to his home town in Illinois, where he will be buried.
I did some digging (goggling of course) about this movie. Its turn out that this movie actually are based on a true story from the notes of Lt Col. Mike Strobl (main character of the movie) when escorting the body of Private 1st Class Marine Chance Phelps.
What actually intrigues me when watching this movie is the level of respect of a soldier towards their fallen brothers. The salute given to the fallen soldiers every time the coffin was loaded in and out of an aeroplane, in the chapel and the cemetery.
The way they salute them was so emotional without even shedding any tears.
The first thing I remember after seeing this movie was Arwah Aldy Hasmi. A friend, a fathers and a husband who lost his live while training for Askar Wataniah on 16th of September 2013.
He is my fallen soldier and I deeply regret not being able to gave my last respect, my salute to him before he was buried.
May he rest in peace.
Al-Fatihah.
