ALPHA Run II : My Race

This event was supposed to be held on March but was postponed until June due to Lahad Datu incident. The organizers were actually Jabatan pertahanan Awam Malaysia (JPAM) and they were directly involved during Ops Daulat.  ALPHA stands for Akademi Latihan Petahanan Awam and this is their second organized event hence the name ALPHA Run II.
The route of this event was different when it was announced on early March.

I was already expecting some crazy hills from the proposed route especially from Uniten towards PLUS UPM Exit and back but on the race day the route for the event was changed to this instead.

more details here

It was fine by me as the plan was to take it slow and steady, maintain the pace and make sure I did finish injury-free in the process as I have another event on the next day.
Only there of us, the Huru Hara Runners participated in this events and as usual I finished last out of the three.
I do not much to complained as this was a RM10 event but there some aspect need to reconsideration by the organizers such as:
1.Stated to start at 6.30am but runners from 1st category only released on 7.26am
2. 1 water station provided for 12km runners. This is the 1st 12km event I participated only provides 1 water station. It was stationed at the 8km mark.

Anyway there also a lot of Pros in this event :
1. Cheap race fee. RM10 only which entitled your for a dry fit event tee, bib, cert, light breakfast.
2. Since it was a low key event, you don't have to queue for  a cup Milo from the famous Milo van. As a slow runner like me most of the event when I'm finished there will be such a long queue for Milo. You can take 2-3 cups and still the people queuing behind you will be fine.
3. Lucky draw for runners. The main prize is a folding bike.
4. Enough marshall/volunteer especially at the 'hot spots' of the busy road.

With that been said, if  JPAM decided to organized this event again, I will be the 1st to join.
This RM10 event was was better than RM50 Melawati 10k.
