This is a long due assignment. The race was 2 weeks ago and now I have the time to write something about it. This was the event most runners are looking for as it was a quite successful event last year. I did not join last year but the reviews form other runner was quite positive.
I decided to give it a shot this year. The event's registration was closed a week earlier and then opened again with higher prices and no vest.
I felt that this was a wrong move by the organizer and its more about profiting from the runners enthusiasm on joining a running event. Since other runners already wrote down their race report, mine will be the PROs and CONs of this event.
PROs
1. Good hilly race route. Very challenging.
2. A lot of water at every check point.
CONs
1. The flag off was quite dull. Only horns was heard. I only knew the race already started when I saw runners started running
2. Route was dark with pot holes almost everywhere. Very dangerous.
3. Very impatient drivers. They are honking everywhere. Organizers should ask the help of policemen to man the traffic instead of RELA.
4. No Surau provided at KM 10. It was stated in runner's booklet.
5. No power bar provided at KM 10. It was stated in runner's booklet.
6. No medics at the water station or anywhere during the race.
7. No isotonic drinks at any of the water stations. This kind of race it a must for the organizers to provide isotonic drinks. Even though the water are plenty but with none isotonic drinks provided, it increases the possibility of cramps of the runners.
8. Merging 5km and 10km runners with the 21km runners was a bad move. Its hard to run with so many people but so little space.
9. The finisher T was the same design as the official vest. Should have write 21km Finisher instead of Finisher at the back.
10. Small finisher trophy. I prefer medal instead.
Actually there is a lot more cons during the race but with that been said this is the event I will give it a pass next year.
Anyway I am proud to conquer the hilly route of Bukit Jalil this year. It was very challenging but seeing the finishing line is my most happiest moment during the race.
